What's in My IPSY Metropolis Glam Bag?

This year, I've decided to give subscription boxes a try. In 2016, I spent way too much money on hair, makeup, and beauty products that I ended up hating! I want to be able to test out new things to see if they are worth the hype, before paying full price.

So, this month I wanted to try the IPSY Glam Bag! I got 5 samples in this cute little makeup bag for only $10, which is great compared to some of the other boxes I've seen. The January 2017 bag theme is "Metropolis", a chic, city girl type of vibe. I like that each month has a theme, but everyone doesn't get the exact products. Check out the ones I got, and my thoughts on each item below!

Jelly Pong Pong Cosmetics - Coffee + Coconut Lip Scrub | Retail Price: $19

Pro: It smells like a Starbucks drink (try not to eat it)!

Con: The price. You could make a DIY scrub from items in your kitchen.

Naked Cosmetics - Mica Pigment in Desert Sunset #02 | Retail Price: $14.99

Pro: It's a pretty, champagne color!

Con: I wouldn't have bought for myself because I am terrible at doing eye shadow. However, you can mix the pigment with a clear top coat to create a metallic nail color and I definitely will be trying that out. Update: works great as a nail color. However, it works best if you apply a coat of regular polish as a base before applying.

Crown Brush - Beaute Basics C405 Contour Blush Brush | Retail Price: $7.49

Pro: You can use it to apply your blush, contour, or highlight. It's soft and affordable, I'd recommend it! Update: I only recommend it for highlight and contour only.

Con: None

CiatΓ© London - GELOLOGY Top Coat | Retail Price $17

Pro: I love the packaging, the reflective silver bottle is so pretty! I will be using this to test out that metallic manicure I mentioned earlier. Update: Tested. Great top coat.

Con: The price. There are more affordable gel top coats.

Trust Fund Beauty - Lip Gloss in Blame Game (Limited Edition IPSY Design) | Retail Price $22

Pro: I love the color and consistency of the gloss. It works for my skin tone, so I don't have to wear a liner and it is not sticky!

Con: The price and slight cosmetic smell. NYX Butter Gloss is just as good, way cheaper and smells like dessert.

Some of the products are kind of pricey, but IPSY does give discount codes to use if you want to purchase from the brand's website. Also, you have opportunities to get reward points which can be redeemed to get a bonus sample in your bag.

Overall, I am happy with the items in this month's bag and will definitely finish using the samples. I tried over $80 worth of products for only $10, so the subscription is definitely worth it!
